Does Your Website Make Eye Contact?
Most nonprofit websites lead with a group photo or event shot. They document the work, but they don't move anyone. The fix is simpler than you think, and it starts with one pair of eyes.

Does your website make eye contact? It should.
Start With Your Hero Image
Pull up your nonprofit's website and look at the hero image.
Is it a crowd shot? Maybe smiling volunteers, a group photo, or wide-angle event coverage?
Great documentation, but hard to feel anything.
Your brain doesn't know where to look, so it doesn't land anywhere.
Why One Face Changes Everything
But one face, making direct eye contact with the camera, is a different experience entirely.
We're wired to respond to eyes looking at us. That single photo creates an emotional connection a group shot almost never can.
The Test to Run
Next time you're choosing a hero image for your website, email header, or fundraising appeal ask yourself: is there one face in this photo making eye contact with me?
If not, keep looking. 👀
